What's a Smart Contract?
A smart contract is a self-executing contract with the terms of the agreement directly written into lines of code. It runs on a decentralised network called, blockchain.
How do Smart Contracts work?
Digital Agreement: It's a set of rules written in code, like how a game should be played or how prizes are won.
Automatic Execution: Once the agreement is in the code and on the blockchain, it follows those rules on its own. No one has to manage it.
No Middleman: There's no need for a middleman or a central authority. The smart contract takes care of everything by itself.
Trustworthy: Because it's on the blockchain, people can trust that the rules won't change unexpectedly.
Transparent Transactions: All actions are visible to anyone, making it clear and traceable.
What is "Gas"?
Gas is a unit that measures the computational work required to perform certain operations. This includes actions like sending tokens or interacting with smart contracts - to buy raffle tickets for example. Gas is paid in Ether.
Why do we need Gas to purchase tickets?
Gas serves two main purposes. Firstly, it prevents the network from being abused by putting a cost on computational resources. Secondly, it incentives miners (nodes on the network) to process, validate transactions and smart contract executions.
How do I connect to my wallet?
To connect to Winnables, you need to use a digital wallet. Here's how you can do this with MetaMask, a popular Ethereum wallet:
Install the MetaMask browser extension from the official MetaMask website.
Set up an account in MetaMask. Remember to safely store your seed phrase, which is used to recover your account.
Once your account is set up, go to Winnables.com.
Look for a "Connect Wallet" or similar button on the website. Click on it.
A MetaMask popup will appear, asking you to confirm the connection. Click "Connect".
What items can be listed?
At launch, only Winnables will be able to list items. These items can be
ERC-20 tokens
NFT’s
How are winners drawn?
The winners of the raffles are not selected by us, but by a mechanism known as Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function). This system is an essential part of our commitment to ensure transparency and fairness in our raffles.
Why Chainlink VRF?
The benefits of using Chainlink VRF are manifold:
Secure and Reliable: Chainlink VRF is built on blockchain technology, making it highly secure and reliable. It cannot be altered or manipulated, ensuring the integrity of the raffle process.
Transparent: All transactions and selections made through Chainlink VRF are recorded on the blockchain, making it entirely transparent. Every participant can verify the fairness of the draw.
Automatic and Unbiased: The system operates automatically, requesting a random number from Chainlink when a participant acquires entries on the blockchain. This number determines the winner, and the prize is transferred automatically, ensuring an unbiased selection process.
Independent: The process is independent and does not involve control from our end, which guarantees 100% fairness in the selection of winners.
How are the prizes transferred?
Once the winner is determined by the Chainlink VRF system, he will need to click on the “claim” button on the competition page. Once claimed, the prize will be transferred to the winners connected wallet.
What are the different types of raffles?
Timed Competitions: For instance, consider Raffle X. It has a timer set to end on a specific date and time. When this timer reaches zero, the raffle will close regardless of how many tickets have been sold.
Maximum Ticket Supply: Raffles have a given supply of Y tickets available. No more than X tickets can ever be sold.
Minimum Ticket Supply: When a minimum ticket threshold is set for a raffle, the raffle needs to sell that X tickets before a winner can be drawn.
Maximum Tickets per User: This is a set limit of tickets available per user
What are ticket Bundles?
Players can enter a raffle by purchasing one of four different ticket bundles.
Bundle Options:
Cheapest Bundle: 10% more tickets or a 10% discount.
Beginner Bundle: 20% more tickets or a 20% discount.
Winnables Recommended Bundle: 30% more tickets or a 30% discount.
Highest Chance Bundle: 40% more tickets or a 40% discount.
What are my chances of winning?
Your odds of winning improve as you purchase more tickets. This is because each ticket represents a separate entry into the draw. Therefore, the more entries (tickets) you have, the higher your chances of being selected. However, it's important to understand that buying more tickets does not guarantee a win. The selection is random, and even a participant with a single ticket could win.
How will you contact me if I’ve won?
You will be contact you via e-mail and you will also be able to see your name on the activity section on the website.
Do I get a refund if the raffle doesn’t close?
The only type of raffle where players could receive a refund are the ones with a “Minimum ticket supply”. If a raffle has a minimum ticket requirement and this threshold is not met within the time limit, the raffle will be cancelled. In such an instance, participants will receive a refund for the amount they spent on tickets. It's important to note that gas fees, which are used to process transactions on the Ethereum network, cannot be refunded.
